Day Lily -- Oil on Canvas 40 x 40 inches
During a recent summer trip to the Sauble Beach area on Lake Huron, I came across this magnificent day lily hybrid and took a few photos for reference. This is the finished oil painting that I hope captures the vibrant flow of the petals and stunning subtle colour transitions of the flower. My objective was to create a dramatic, realistic representation of a truly regal garden favourite.
